Is there anything better than fluff mail? Opening a package addressed to you full of beautiful textiles that are designed to make your life just a little easier. I don’t think there is.
What do you do next? Well it’s time to prep your cloth diapers.
Prepping cloth diapers simply refers to the process of getting cloth diapers ready to use in your stash. We outline the process below.
If you’re already doing a cloth diaper laundry, toss them in with the next load.
If you’re not doing cloth diaper laundry, wash your new diapers all together keeping in mind the basics of cloth diaper wash routines (read more in our Care Section). Use a warm to hot wash with a long agitation cycle (eg. heavy duty cycle) with an effective cloth diaper safe detergent. You could use a cold wash but your results may be less than stellar.
And don’t forget the dryer! Machine drying Nuggles natural fibre inserts is an important step in prep. If you normally use fabric softeners, don't. Fabric softeners and cloth diapers are not friends.
Nuggles natural fibre products are made with a high grade quality bamboo product. The absorbency of Nuggles inserts, prefolds and fitted cloth diapers will only get better with time. We recommend a total of 6-8 washes.
QUICK START TIP:
If you’re feeling impatient to get your Nuggles on the bum, Bailey says go for it after the first wash and dry, just keep in mind you might want to change your diaper a little
sooner than a fully prepped diaper. Absorbency will improve with subsequent washes.
How to prep Covers, Pockets, Swim Diapers & Wet bags?
Wash once and dry. It’s as simple as that. There’s no absorbency in these products, so you’ll just need to wash them once and you’re good to start using them in your stash.
Cloth diaper covers, pockets, and wet bags can also be tumble dry on low heat or air, or hung to dry indoors. Repeated use of high dryer heat can cause degrading of elastics
and PUL. The good thing is Nuggles covers and swim diapers can air dry within 2 hours.
Time to Use!
Then it’s time to use your cloth diapers!
